Boat People On this page are photos of the true working boat people, they spent their lives on the canals working very very long hours for not a great deal of pay. Theirs wasn't the rose tinted life we see and hear about from some of the heritage societies, theirs was a long hard life with long hours and a lot of manual labour. The Boswells - worked for FMC and BW for many years Violet and Thomas Boswell on the gunnal of their motorboat Acherner James and Maria Priddy FMC Boaters.
